A few days ago, I exposed a fake José Mourinho quote being disseminated by Israel-haters around the world – including by Benchwarmers, a Facebook page with over 2 million followers.
Following my post, others – notably Arab-Israeli advocate Yoseph Hadad, who has a relatively large following – spread the word about the quote’s fakeness.
I now have some good news and bad news.
The bad news is that despite being told the quote was fake, Benchwarmers has left up their post – which tells you a lot about the person or people running the page.
The good news is Facebook has added a warning, to alert people that the quote is fake:

The “See why” points to a Turkish site, which although not citing my post, includes the quote by the initial fabricator admitting the quote was fake.
The quote proves that Mark Twain was correct when he said “a lie will fly around the whole world while the truth is getting its boots on.” And in Benchwarmers’ case, once the truth got its boots on, they seemed determined to send it packing.
