Anti-Israel Fauxtography of the Day

An Israel-hater called Karol Brooks – who says she “supports Palestinian kids” has tweeted the following photo, supposedly of 13-year old Malak “the youngest detainee in the history.”

A look at this photo and it is abundantly clear those are not IDF uniforms, and the IDF would never chain anyone up like that, let alone a child.

That’s because this is a dramatic reenactment that has taken real liberties with depicting the truth.

A scenical view in Gaza, on February 7, 2015 to remind people of the detained child Malak al-Khatib. Malak -14 years – Israel sentenced to two months jail for trying to attack soldiers. Israeli forces arrest some 1,000 children every year in the occupied West Bank, often on charges of stone-throwing, according to NGO Defence for Children International Palestine (DCI Palestine). The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club estimates there are 200 Palestinian minors currently held in Israeli prisons, but of them only four are girls, and Malak is the youngest. Besides using this fauxtography to score sympathy points, Karol Brooks got her age wrong. And she also failed to mention that the photo is from 2015, and the girl served 45 days for picking up a stone to throw at cars, as well as being in possession of a knife, intended to use to stab security personnel in the case of her arrest (she later claimed the confession was coerced, but I somehow doubt this).

So the real question here, Karol, is not why we are “so afraid of kids?” but rather why you are so afraid of the truth?
