First Reaction of Family of Palestinian Terrorist Initially Thought Dead: Blame Israel!

A few days ago, it was reported the IDF killed two terrorists attempting a car ramming.

Israeli forces killed two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank on Monday during what the army called an attempted car-ramming attack on soldiers carrying out an arrest operation.

The deaths came during one of the worst periods of unrest in years in the West Bank where Israeli forces have conducted near daily raids since March.

The latest deaths were in the central West Bank, at the Jazalone refugee camp near Ramallah, where the army said it “apprehended an individual suspected of terror activity”.

“During the activity, two suspects attempted to carry out a (car) ramming attack against soldiers,” an army statement said.

“The soldiers responded with fire and neutralised the two suspects.”

The Palestinian health ministry named those killed as 19-year-old Basel Basbous and Khaled Anbar, 20. Raafat Habash, 19, was seriously injured, the ministry said.

It turns out rumors of Basbous’ death were greatly exaggerated. And the palestinian Arabs managed to blame that on Israel!

Three Palestinian families have been left anxious and confused after conflicting reports and a lack of Israeli clarification on the fate of three young men shot by Israeli soldiers earlier this week.

On Monday, the Israeli army said it shot dead two young Palestinians and wounded another after opening fire on the vehicle they were in near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

It was initially reported the two dead were Basel Basbous and Khaled al-Dabbas, both from the Jalazone camp, with the wounded man Salama Sharaia, from the town of Birzeit.

But late on Monday, Basbous’s family received a call from an eyewitness who was at the Israeli Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, telling them that their son was still alive.

The revelation has left the three families unsure of their sons’ fates, with no official confirmation received from the Israeli army or the Palestinian body liaising with the Israeli side.

“We tried repeatedly to know Basel’s fate,” Mohammad Basbous, his brother, told Middle East Eye.

“We called the Israeli civil liaison and the Israeli officer in charge of the area but they refused to respond to our questions.”

Unable to confirm what happened, Mohammad says the family was riven by worry and anxiety.

Late on Tuesday, the Palestinian Authority’s Commission of Detainees’ Affairs said its lawyer, Karim Ajwa, managed to visit Basel. In a brief statement, the lawyer said “the young man, Basel Basbous, is alive and wounded in the Israeli Shaare Zedek Medical Center”.

After pressure from international NGOs, the family obtained a permit to visit Jerusalem and reach the medical centre, Mohammad said.

They were allowed to see him after midnight, after a long wait in the hospital, and confirmed that he was still alive.

Note how in the first report I cited, it was the Palestinian Health Ministry who announced he was dead, not the IDF. But why talk facts when you can blame Israel? (I am surprised they do not blame also on Israel the fact he has the terrible -yet alliterative – name Basel Basbous).

You’d think the family would be over the moon he is alive after all. Yet all they can do is bash Israel. Because, priorities.

Also do not let the fact he is being treated in an Israeli hospital pass by. If we were the demonic killers the anti-Israel propagandists would have you believe, we certainly would not be trying to nurse him back to health.

Meanwhile, the family is denying he was shot as part of an attempted car ramming:

Nasser is also demanding that Israeli authorities explain the circumstances of the shooting.

The Israeli army said in its initial statement that the three were shot after attempting to ram soldiers with their car.

The families and eyewitnesses rejected this claim, saying such ramming attacks normally don’t involve more than one person in the car and saying the three young men were returning from their work in Ramallah when they were targeted.

I was not aware one cannot car ram with more than one person in the car. Sound logic!
