Australian FM’s Revealing Announcement in Reversing Recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital

In what cannot be a huge surprise to those following Australian politics, Australia has reversed the former government’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. But it are some of Foreign Minister Penny Wong’s statements in announcing it that I want to focus on:

The “certain parts of the Australian community” she speaks of as being distressed are clearly the Muslim community and others who detest Israel. The fact this new move to reverse the decision will cause “distress” among the Jewish community seems to not matter as much to the Labour government.

Also, given Wentworth has Australia’s largest Jewish population, she is basically admitting that most of the Jewish community does care deeply about Israel.
