Nerd Culture Site Publishes One of Sh*ttiest Takes on Antisemitism You’ll See

In highly publicized remarks, Steven Spielberg recently warned he has not witnessed antisemitism so “overt” as it is now in the United States.

And while I agree with him, his comments suggest he was speaking about the rise in far Right antisemitism and not the more prevalent and pernicious antisemitism of the Left (nor Black and Islamic antisemitism).

While I might have issues with this aspect of his comments, I could never imagine someone taking Spielberg to task over these comments because he is “smearing America” with them. But that is exactly what a writer for Bounding Into Comics – a self-described “comprehensive hub for nerd culture” – has accused him of doing.

Steven Spielberg is one of the biggest names in Hollywood, and he recently smeared America by accusing it of having rising “antisemitism.” The far-left director’s charge becomes even more outrageous when read in context of his full comments.

On March 3, the far-left Deadline reported on the comments Spielberg made on the far-left The Late Show with Stephen ColbertDeadline hysterically described the director as having “some chilling words on the rise of public antisemitism in recent years.”

Colbert prompted these remarks, with Deadline writing that the host asked the director “whether he is surprised by the recent, headline-making increase in incidents of antisemitism.” Spielberg responded to the leading question by saying, “I find it very, very surprising.” He added that, “Antisemitism has always been there—it’s either been just around the corner and slightly out of sight but always lurking, or it has been much more overt like in Germany in the ‘30s.”

Spielberg then made it clear that he was referring to America with his remarks. “But not since Germany in the ‘30s have I witnessed antisemitism no longer lurking, but standing proud with hands on hips like Hitler and Mussolini, kind of daring us to defy it. I’ve never experienced this in my entire life, especially in this country.”

Going even further, the director said that, “Somehow the marginalizing of people that aren’t part of some kind of a majority race is something that has been creeping up on us for years and years and years.” He provided additional clarity by remarking that, “Somehow in 2014, 2015, 2016 hate became a kind of membership to a club that has gotten more members than I ever thought was possible in America.”

So which group of people, exactly, is Spielberg putting into that “club?” The one formed in 2014, 2015, and 2016?

Later he made the bizarre remark that, “hate and antisemitism go hand in hand; you can’t separate one from the other.” Hate, of course, can be easily separated from antisemitism. Indeed, hatred can be directed at anyone. And anyone can direct hate—including people who constantly claim to be victimized and the recipients of hatred.

Spielberg’s smear of America on The Late Show is only the latest example of someone from Hollywood attacking the nation. If audiences reject the latest Star Wars product? Hollywood claims it must be because America is racist. If people don’t like the latest adaptation featuring race-swapped characters? Hollywood says it’s because of racism. If people object to depravity in the latest product for America to consume? “Homophobia,” obviously.

And then there is Hollywood being all in on the slimy 1619 Project, its attacks on the nation when America doesn’t vote the “right” way, and the constant anti-American garbage it pumped out against the post-9/11 wars. The author of this post was deployed to the Iraq War and in particular will never forget that propaganda.

Spielberg’s comments become even more odious when considering a variety of things, including the fact that Americans—even members in the “club”—have spent billions of dollars on his land-of-make-believe products over the decades. Americans have made him wealthy beyond the wildest dreams of most people on Earth. And yet this is what he thinks of America in return.

The author of this odd and offensive piece is someone called Paul Hair, whose author bio mentions he can be followed on Gab. Gab is a notorious alt-tech social networking service known for its far-right userbase. As Wikipedia notes, “Antisemitism is prominent in the site’s content and the company itself has engaged in antisemitic commentary. Gab CEO Andrew Torba has promoted the white genocide conspiracy theory.”

Hair’s Amazon page reveals he has written a number of books, including one he has co-written called Hating Jesus: The American Left’s War on Christianity.

The new pagan gods of the late, great USA are self-worshipping men and women who, realize it or not, spend every waking hour doing evil. You know them as American leftists. They are waging a War on Christianity and, for now at least, are winning.

Just a few short decades ago a church-going man who publicly supported the right to life, backed laws protecting marriage, and spoke freely of Christ’s love for fallen man, would be universally recognized as a fine and upstanding citizen. He would be welcomed anywhere, including at the highest levels of power. But things have changed. In today’s America, the “progressive” left actively endeavors to destroy such a man.

Modern American leftists start by vilifying Christians. They then begin scheming, quite often with success, to get Christians terminated from employment and forever marked with a scarlet “C” to inhibit any future prospects for employment. Next, they simultaneously attack their family and work to tear it apart, at once sending a warning shot over the bow of other Christians and pushing them to the fringes of society.

The ultimate goal? Conform to their pagan demands, or face incarceration.

American progressives have co-opted every elite institution: schools, government, the media, Hollywood and the arts; even, at an increasing rate, many conservative organizations. What’s worse is that progressivism has, like a deadly cancer, fully metastasized into what passes for the Church in America. There is a great falling away afoot, and apostasy reigns supreme.

The secular left doesn’t merely have a disagreement with Christianity. These are not people with whom one may reason, compromise or even disagree. They are dedicated to evil. They demand nothing less than the abolition of the biblical worldview, and the destruction of Christ’s followers right along with it.

Now is the time to fight back. If you are someone, Christian or not, who refuses to see Christianity wiped out (like it ever could be) and your children indoctrinated into pure evil, then sitting on the sidelines is no longer an option.

In Hating Jesus Matt Barber first documents how successful the American left has been in its War on Christianity and then concludes by providing both hope and a simple plan on how the body of Christ can fight back against the enemies of God.

We live in dire times. But, with Christ, it’s never too late to turn the tide!

Using Hair’s own logic, this sounds very much like smearing America by accusing it of having rising anti-Christian hatred. Given hate crimes against Jews far outweigh those against Christians, Hair’s thesis is more outrageous than Spielberg’s on any level.

I suspect the Gab-using Paul Hair hates Spielberg’s remarks because he himself is no fan of Jews. His comment “And anyone can direct hate—including people who constantly claim to be victimized and the recipients of hatred” sounds suspiciously like an antisemitic dog whistle (who are these people who he thinks “constantly claim to be victimized and the recipients of hatred”?)

I also suspect Paul Hair has antipathy towards Jews because he believes they are well represented among “American progressives [who] have co-opted every elite institution: schools, government, the media, Hollywood and the arts” – and these are the people he sees as hating on his beloved Christianity.

If Hair wants to write this garbage on a personal website or within his echo chamber of far Right nutcases, that’s all well and good. But for a website appealing to nerds of all stripes (and with over 250,000 followers across social media platforms) to publish this garbage is truly disgraceful.
