Where Al Jazeera Reported More Accurately Than The Australian Media

The Australian media has reported on the deaths of Sydney man Ibrahim Bazzi, his wife, Shorouk Hammoud, and his brother Ali Bazzi  in an airstrike in southern Lebanon.

Here are some examples of the reporting:

9 News Australia:

Sydney man, brother and wife reportedly killed in airstrike in Lebanon

The Department of Foreign Affairs is urgently investigating reports of an Australian killed in an airstrike in southern Lebanon.

Sydney man Ibrahim Bazzi, 27; his wife, Shorouk Hammoud; and his brother, Ali Bazzi; were killed in an overnight raid on the town of Bint Jbeil, according the Lebanese National News Agency and other local media.

Ibrahim had travelled to the town to visit his wife, who recently acquired her Australian visa and was planning to move to be with her husband.

The government-run news agency claimed an Israeli warplane was responsible for the airstrike, which it said destroyed the al-Dawra neighbourhood home and injured a fourth person.

9News has been unable to confirm whether the missile was fired by the Israel Defence Forces.

Multiple family members and friends told 9News they were informed early this morning and were devastated by the news.

Ibrahim moved to Australia in 2021 and was living in Bexley in the Sydney’s south with his sister and brother-in-law.

He was working as a labourer before he was promoted to site supervisor.

His brother-in-law will be travelling to Lebanon tonight to be with their family.

ABC News Australia:

Australian man, his wife and brother killed in Lebanon after building hit by air strike, family says

An Australian man and his brother have been killed in the south of Lebanon after their building was hit by an air strike, family members have said.

Ibrahim and Ali Bazzi died in air strikes on the town of Bint Jbeil in Lebanon overnight.

Ibrahim Bazzi, 27, travelled from Sydney to Bint Jbeil to visit his wife Shorouk Hammoud, who recently acquired an Australian visa.

The couple were planning on starting their new life in Australia, according to relatives.

Local media in Lebanon is reporting that an Israeli war plane fired a missile at number of homes in Bint Jbeil overnight.

Australian born and raised Ali Bazzi moved to Lebanon to get married a few years ago.

Ms Hammoud’s first cousin Mohamed Hammoud, who lives in Sydney, told the ABC Ibrahim Bazzi felt strongly about travelling to Lebanon in person to bring his wife to Australia.

“My family is numb. My family is devastated. My family is in disbelief,” he said.

“We were expecting to meet and greet them here and welcome her to Australia and now that’s not to be…utter disbelief.”

Mr Hammoud said all he had left of his cousin were beautiful memories.

“She used to paint my daughter’s fingernails, she was full of life and happy.”

Ibrahim Bazzi was an electrician and a construction worker from the St George area in Sydney’s south.

He married Ms Hammoud in Lebanon three years ago and was working to set up their life in Sydney.

His uncle, Mohamed Kahmees, described Ibrahim Bazzi as “a beautiful boy”.

“He went to get his wife from Lebanon for a better life…and the

“I’m really in a state of shock still.”

The Australian:

DFAT investigates reports Australians killed in Lebanon

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is investigating reports an Australian man, his wife, and his brother have been killed in an air strike in Lebanon.

Ibrahim Bazzi, 27, was reportedly visiting with his wife Shorouk Hammoud in the south Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil. She had just acquired an Australian visa and the couple planned to return to Australia to start their life together.

Local media in Lebanon is also reporting Ibrahim’s brother Ali Bazzi was killed in the strike. The 30 year-old reportedly moved to Lebanon three years ago to get married.

Lebanese media is reporting the three people were killed when a building was struck by an Israeli war plane overnight.

“DFAT is aware of reports an Australian citizen has died in Lebanon and is seeking confirmation,” a Department spokesman said.

Ibrahim Bazzi’s uncle Mohamed Kahmees, told the ABC “He went to get his wife from Lebanon for a better life…and then this happened.”

“I’m really in a state of shock still.”

He described him as a “beautiful boy”.

Ms Hammoud’s first cousin, Sydneysider Mohamed Hammoud, told the ABC the family was devastated at the news.

“My family is numb. My family is devastated. My family is in disbelief.”

“We were expecting to meet and greet them here and welcome her to Australia and now that’s not to be … utter disbelief.”

The tragic story being conveyed in these reports – of the good man visiting his wife in Lebanon who had their lives tragically cut short (along with his brother) by those dastardly Israelis before they could come back to Australia and live out their days – is compounded by this photo shown in two of the reports:

In what might just be an Israellycool first, I am going to cite Al Jazeera for a more accurate report as to what happened:

Israeli strikes kill Hezbollah fighter as violence on Lebanon border grows

An Israeli air attack on a south Lebanon border town has killed three people.

The bombing late on Tuesday targeted a house in the town of Bint Jbeil, killing a Hezbollah fighter and two relatives, according to the Iranian-linked Lebanese armed group.

The strikes followed a series of attacks by Hezbollah on Israeli posts close to the border. The border area between Lebanon and Israel has seen escalating exchanges of fire since the Israeli-Gaza war began on October 7.

Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) on Wednesday identified those killed as Ali Bazzi, his brother Ibrahim and sister-in-law Shourouk Hammoud.

“Enemy warplanes raided, before midnight (22:00 GMT), a house … in the centre of the town of Bint Jbeil”, about 2km (1.2 miles) from the border, killing the three and injuring another family member, NNA said.

A relative told the AFP news agency that Ibrahim Bazzi was an Australian citizen who had flown in for a visit about a week ago. Hezbollah announced that Ali Bazzi was one of its fighters.

Here is a Hizbullah poster of its deceased terrorist Ali Bazzi:

In other words, all three were killed because at least one of them was a Hizbullah terrorist. And even if Ibrahim Bazzi and his wife were not actual terrorists themselves, they certainly knew Ali was. And Israel had every right to target the house after the Hizbullah strikes.

How the Australian media omitted the fact the house was struck because Ali Bazzi was a Hizbullah terrorist is an absolute disgrace.
