Remember the recent viral video by former champion Australian hockey player and sprinter Nova Peris, in which she championed the Jews as the indigenous people of Israel? In the same video, Nova lamented the misappropriation of her beloved and sacred Aboriginal flag at the hands of Israel-haters.
It turns out that Nova first discovered this misappropriation when our “friend” Nasser Mashni wore the Aboriginal flag on Australian television.
A personal tipping point was when she saw the president of the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network, Nasser Mashni, wearing the Aboriginal flag on the ABC’s Q&A program.
“I gave two and a half years of my life to free the flag from copyright. That … does not then give anyone, in particular a non-Aboriginal person, the right to misappropriate the meaning of our flag and identity,” she said.
