Australian Labor party frontbencher Anne Aly is no friend of Israel. Just over a week after Hamas’ massacre of October 7, she suggested Israel could be investigated over whether it had committed war crimes.
She followed that up with this interview with Australia’s ABC News:
Notice no mention of Hamas’ war crimes or the pain of Jews.
But as we have seen before, being anti-Israel is not enough for fellow Israel-haters. You have to be dripping with venomous hate for the Jewish state or risk being cancelled. Which Aly learned the hard way at a suburban park in Perth (my hometown) while meeting locals.
Watching that, it is still hard to even understand what their gripe with Aly was. She was clearly on their side. I guess even acknowledging that a ceasefire can only happen if the hostages are released is a bridge to far for these birdbrains who, I strongly suspect, are on team Hamas.
As for Ali, I had a good chuckle over this from the Daily Telegraph’s Tim Blair:
During the confrontation, Dr Aly referred to how her father had fought for Egypt against Israel during the Six Day War of 1967.
“My father fought in the war. And what have you done?” she told one of the protesters.
This isn’t quite the proud boast that Aly thinks it is.
