A number of anti-Israel and antisemitic Twitter/X accounts are alleging that May Golan, Israel’s Minister for Social Equality and the Advancement of the Status of Women, is an ex-pornstar, in order to somehow prove we are an immoral people.
Their proof? A racy photo of someone who looks a lot like her:
The face on the woman in the racy photo is actually of May Golan. But it is from the cover of a CD called מלכת העבדים (“Slave Queen”), not a porn movie:
And while it is May’s face on the cover, the body belongs to someone else. As she explained earlier this year when the photo began circulating on social media:
“Yes, over 20 years ago I approved the use of my face for a CD cover as part of a completely humorous song that was published; that’s how it is at the age of ‘stupidteen’ to do stupid things.” The minister added and stated that “Try and shame me for that – you really won’t succeed. I’m not ashamed, I don’t apologize and I don’t regret anything I did. I was a brave girl, rebellious and above all without intention; a girl at risk – who did what she thought was right at that moment to survive. Everything that I ever did made me who I am today.”
Meanwhile, their fellow antisemite and Israel-hater Mia Khalifa was actually a porn star. So there’s that.
