Almost two weeks have passed since Fremantle Dockers captain Alex Pearce shared anti-Israel posts by Irish hip hop trio Kneecap. While some additional journalists have commented, both the Dockers and AFL have remained silent, in a stunning show of hypocrisy given how ‘woke’ they have become in recent years.
Someone to comment, though, has been AFl Players CEO Paul Marsh. But what he said beggars belief.
The AFL & Fremantle have remained silent over Alex Pearce's social media activity three weeks ago.

Today @AFLPlayers CEO Paul Marsh addressed the issue, revealing he'd spoken to Pearce directly. @FootyonNine @9NewsMelb pic.twitter.com/ftc2UNqxJJ
This issue is not complex. Hamas terrorists murdered, raped, and kidnapped men, women, and children and Alex Pearce has taken the side of the murderers, rapists, and kidnappers. Even if you argue he is not pro-Hamas, but just the people of Gaza, let’s not forget Gazan ‘civilians’ took part in the atrocities. And there is absolutely no genocide to speak of, rather some collateral damage as a result of Hamas using their civilians as human shields, as well as the fog of war.
Even had the content been factual, which it is not, Pearce amplified a group who openly showed support for Hamas and Hizbullah , and called for the death of Tories. That alone should attract widespread condemnation.
And here we have Paul Marsh showing support for Peace, wanting “players to be able to speak openly and share their voices.”
I am sure Marsh would not be sounding so supportive had a player shared an anti LGBTQ post on social media, for example. Or anti Indigenous Australian – and rightly so. But here, where the feelings of mere Jews are involved, he is pro the offender.
What a disgrace.
Update: I am sharing this video of Jewish North Melbourne player Harry Sheezel – who has been subjected to antisemitic abuse, as well as an Israeli flag controversy, in the past – because it serves an antidote to Alex Pearce’s garbage.
