Philadelphia: known as the birthplace of both the Declaration of Independence (1776) and the U.S. Constitution (1787), as well as home of the Liberty Bell, Benjamin Franklin, the Eagles, Phillies, and 76ers.
But since October 7th 2023, it has become home also to a significant amount of antisemitism, thanks to a network of hate uncovered by a new Canary Mission report.
Titled Philadelphia’s Network of Hate, the report reveals a disturbing and coordinated effort to radicalize Philadelphia into a national hub of antisemitism, anti-Israel extremism and anti-American activism (because these things invariably go hand-in-hand).

The report meticulously documents
- Nearly 700 (!) individuals involved in anti-Israel activism, including educators, university faculty, elected officials and 37 suspected foreign citizens
- Evidence of systematic infiltration of K-12 education and academia to normalize antisemitic rhetoric; and
- A strategy that is now being replicated across Pennsylvania
Among those mentioned in the report are some of the usual suspects with which you will already be familiar, such as Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), and Susan Abulhawa. But the vast majority are individuals and organizations even I had never heard of.
I cannot possibly do justice to the report in a short post, so here’s a teaser and a call to go read it for yourself:
Down to the last few days. Every dollar counts.
