I think it should be pretty clear by now that APAN President Nasser Mashni is quite the antisemite.
But I am a big fan of reminders.
Today, Mashni retweeted this vile quote from a piece by Louise Adler, in which she attacks the recent report on combating antisemitism by Australia’s special envoy on antisemitism:

Here’s the entire quote:
The publication of the special envoy’s plan is the latest flex by the Jewish establishment. The in-house scribes have been busy: no institution, organisation or department is exempt from the latest push to weaponise antisemitism and insist on the exceptionalism of Australian Jewry. One might pause to wonder what First Nations people, who are the victims of racism every day, feel about the priority given to 120,000 well-educated, secure and mostly affluent individuals.
This plays into the antisemitic trope of not just “the rich, powerful Jew”, but also the antisemitic falsehood that Jews see themselves as above everyone else, based on a malicious distortion of the Jewish idea of the “Chosen people.”
For the record, while Australian Jews are often described as relatively affluent on average, such an overgeneralization is wrong and antisemitic. There is certainly still poverty in the Jewish community, with Jewish welfare organisations like Jewish Care in Victoria or Jewish House in NSW reporting significant demand for services.
As for the Australian Jewish community being secure, I doubt they have ever felt more insecure, with antisemitism spiraling out of control. And it are people like Nasser Mashni who are contributing to the climate of hate against Jews.
I am guessing Mashni felt comfortable retweeting what he did, given that Louise Adler is herself Jewish.
Or should that be “as-a-Jew-ish”. Adler is herself an enabler and purveyor of antisemitism, so she doesn’t provide as much cover for Mashni’s own antisemitism as he might think.
