Why I Don’t Carrefour the French

Carrefour is a French hypermarket chain – one of the largest in the world (Hat tip: Gideon).

Hmpf, I bought Danish butter today… It tastes pretty good!
(sorry I didn’t have anything more insightful to say…
This looks like a fake. Why would the main French hypermarket chain have a sign in English? Surely it would be in French if it is real.
I don’t think it’s fake. Carrefour has chains all over the world. It’s most likely not a Carrefour in France but in an arab country, because you would never (not yet anyhow) have a sign with THAT prominent Arabic in a French Carrefour in France… Let alone English and no French text…. So it has to be one in an Arab country.
Dave, any info on where this photo was taken?
Never the less, this is absolutely ridiculous. (And this Arab chain is lying, since my sister in France says they still carry Danish products in her Carrefour…..)
I agree that this was probably taken in one of the other countries in which Carrefour operates. Exactly where, I do not know.
This photo was probably taken at a Carrefour in an Arab nation.
Ummm, doesn’t the reference to the Egyptian community suggest it might be in … Egypt? No doubt the Egyptian Copts are pretty offended.
Cheese eating surrender monkeys? Naaahh, they’re only trying to make a living….
Disgusting. Although quite strange since our local Carrefour is champion in carrying Israeli products.
This story ran in the UK’s Financial Times more than a week ago, including the exact same photo.
The story said, from memory, that the photo came from a store in the Middle East. Carrefour attempted to justify its appeasement by saying the decision to boycott Danish goods in Middle Eastern stores had been taken by its Middle Eastern partner.
Corporate dhimmitude
In the past I have had opportunities to spend money at Carrefour, but due to a conflux of circumstances, I am happy to say that I have never bought a thing from this large French supermarket chain. And now I never will. Via Tim Blair….
Yes, it’s a grand conspiracy. As if this is so hard to comprehend.
(Hint) the fastest growing population in France is Muslim. Do you think the French have the backbone to not have a sign like this in their store?
Does it surprise anyone that these socialists, as usual, are bending over backwards to please the nut element in their society?
I searched the Carrefour international website and found that the Emirates store doesn’t stock any Danish products while the Spanish stores do stock Danish beer and biscuits.
