Hey New York Times, Have You Applied For Foreign Lobbyist Status Yet?
A Post by Brian of London
The New York Times has, finally, figured out how to respond to the scenes of abject and desperate non-poverty in Gaza as Dave has ably documented and discussed (a Taste of “Concentration Camp” Gaza series and Gaza mall posts, for example).

So they’ve switched tack… it’s all about humiliation. It reads like a PR piece written by a foreign lobbyist firm. I thought you needed a license in the US to be a foreign lobbyist?
The despair here is not that of Haiti or Somalia. It is a misery of dependence, immobility and hopelessness, not of grinding want.
First you told us that the Gazan’s were starving and dying of malnutrition so we showed you pictures of overflowing markets and the detailed cargo manifests of food and supplies paid for and sent into Gaza by the Zionist Entity. We also challenged you to come up with one documented death from malnutrition.
You looked at the ground and shuffled your feet.
So you switched to whining that there isn’t enough electricity to go round. Again we pointed out that despite billions of euros, dollars and even Zionist Shekels flowing to the PA they’d rather not build any new power generating facilities for their populations and Hamas would rather not pay their electricity bills to the PA.
Oh, look, a pretty kitty cat!
All right then what about the embargoed building material? Yes, yes, they don’t let pipes and concrete into the Strip, those evil Zionists. So we patiently sent out the pictures of the newly opened swimming pool and shopping mall. We know the mall isn’t the Mall of America, but it is there and so is the nice new swimming pool.
What’s that you say?
Now its not about the real suffering, obviously its not so bad in Gaza, not like in Haiti or Somalia (how many column inches have those had in the last month?). No it’s about the mental suffering inflicted on the Gazans. Hey NYT WHAT ABOUT THE MENTAL HEALTH OF CHILDREN IN SDEROT? PATHETIC.
Hurry up and go out of business already or sign the forms and admit you’re a paid foreign lobbyist.

I actually thought that this article is a net positive for Israel. It is evidence that we are slowly but surely changing the narrative about Gaza. Dave has played a big part in that and deserves kudos for his work.
I wrote about it here: http://balfourst.blogspot.com/2010/08/non-crisis-…
Just as in the movie "The Wizard of Oz" there are good witches and there are bad witches, the blogosphere is the same. There are good bloggers (informative, well-researched) and there are bad bloggers (demogogic, fear mongering). I would definitely put AussieDave in the good blogger category for creating the superior blog IsraellyCool. I'll let others decide which are the bad blogs. I really don't feel comfortable using Dave's site to launch an attack on other bloggers. But I have no such discomfort attacking other commenters, so watch what you say.
Spoken like a true representative of the Lollipop Guild.
Of course. I've long supported organized labor in all its forms. The AFL-CIO; the UAW; the SEIU; and the Lollipop Guild. I also strongly support the Lullabye League.
Brian of London is a great blogger. Dave is superlative.
Anyone who'll attack the Guardian (U.S.) or the Thunderbolt(*) or the New York Times is O.K. in my book.
(*) One is the States Rights Party (Klan), and one is the National Socialist White People's Party (Nazi). I forget which is which – today both groups have the same philosophy, anyway.
I'm blushing
I toyed with calling it the New Durranty Times but it's not so good with the search engines.
After the Jayson Blair (?) scandal, someone at work offered to me to read his copy of the New York Times. I told him I wasn't interested in fiction. He rather liked that.
By the way, when I call the New York Times "America's Premier Anti-Semitic Newspaper", I am referring to their DOMESTIC coverage. Although they don't hold a candle to Ha'aretz, hate-mongering-wise.
And please don't consider this "damning with faint praise". It's just that I like Isreallycool so much..
Brian,
I don't understand why you call the US the “Guardian,” or why it is good to attack the US. Also what "Thunderbolt" refers to, I totally agree that the NYT is anti-Semitic, I am a strong supporter of States rights here in the US and I think that the Klan is evil. The Tea Parties also strongly support states rights but object to any form of racial prejudice. Maybe I am oversimplifying or maybe you are getting your information on “States Rights” from the NYT. Most likely there is some history in these blogs that I don't know. Would be grateful if you would enlighten me.

My last reply was should have gone to Michael Zvi Krumbei
apologies for the incorrect salutation, But I'll be happy with an answer from anyone.
Oh boy, I do have a communications problem. The Guardian and Thunderbolt were the names of newspapers published by hate groups (the Nazis and the Klan) in the U.S. in the '70s. I said US because of the more widespread British paper of thet name.
