Funny, He Doesn’t Look Jewish

I would hire this guy for my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah later this year.

  1. Jim from Iowa says:

I love New Yorkers. They’ve seen everything. I’ve been on the NY subway system many times but every station I’ve been at, the trains run in the middle and the northbound and southbound platforms were on either side. That station stop’s platform seemed very narrow to me, not conducive to running around madly, I think (especially considering the two recent deadly pushing incidents).

This is the Times Square station on the IRT 1,2 and 3 lines.

This reminds me of Lenny Bruce’s monologue about what’s Jewish and what’s goyish. He said that Count Basie and Ray Charles are Jewish, and that Ben Webster, Duke Ellington’s tenor sax man, is so Jewish, he is Orthodox.

  3. Eric says:

Not uncommon for a guy like this to learn the repertoire so he can get gigs with jewish simcha/wedding bands. You see it all the time in the states. The mystery is why he chose to play this set of freilichen music in Times Square station.

  4. Jewess says:

You just gotta’ love NYC. The coolest city in the world, and the only city more Jewish than my hometown is Jerusalem. As Lenny Bruce said, “Even if you are Catholic, if you live in New York you’re Jewish. If you live in Butte, Montana, you are going to be goyish even if you are Jewish.”
