Where are We Now?

The end of Ramadan and a month of fasting is nearly over,

every evening at sunset during this month,

Muslim populations comes out to eat and party.

Once again we ask, Where are We Now?,

Two Arab women image

as these women go to enjoy their iftar evening meal and celebrate.

Not Syria, not Turkey, not Egypt,

image Jaffa Gate, near shuk

but this was taken inside Jaffa Gate, in “Occupied Jerusalem.”

See the oppression they experienced as they walked to the Arab shuk.

While at same time,

image crowd going to Old City

the roads to the Western Wall were totally blocked with traffic,

it was so oppressive that many got out and walked.

If you want to feel sorry for someone,

think of those stuck in taxis, with their meters ticking away.

I lived in the United States, Canada and Australia before moving to Israel in the midst of the Second Lebanon War. For the last ten years, walking the streets of Jerusalem, the scenes I saw every day did not resemble the ones familiar in the Western media. Now I try to share those positive images with the world, what is really happening in Jerusalem, Israel, The Real Jerusalem Streets
