Test Yourself: Nazi Era Antisemitic Cartoon Or Modern One?

It is no secret the Holocaust did nothing to stop antisemitism. In fact, we have been seeing a huge rise in antisemitism for quite a while now, even though it is often hidden behind the facade of “anti-Zionism.”

One of the manifestations of this is in cartoons, predominantly from the Arab world but also elsewhere. And more often than not, these cartoons are like something out of Nazi Germany.

With this in mind, I have created a quiz for you, to see if you can identify the Nazi era cartoons versus the modern ones. To make things a little harder, in some cases, I played around with the black and white settings.

Update Oct 9: So far, 538 of you have taken the quiz. The average score is 61%

Good points- they are generally indistinguishable! Sorry to be a dick but the octopus one’s a bit of a trick question because there was a real Nazi cartoon depicting exactly the same thing which obviously inspired the one you provided.

None of this negates the principle of your post though

The Jew eating a Palestinian was the only one I could tell for sure. A Nazi era cartoon would have had an Aryan looking victim.

I could tell the stereotypical Jew with the hat and the big nose because it was in a more contemporary style! And you could see that it had been graphically altered…

  2. I basically answered according to image quality, assuming that modern printing methods would look sharper, and got 71% – only two wrong.
