  1. The other point to be made is that there are NO old maps in Arabic that identify an area called “Palestine.”
Palestine, when applied to the Land of Israel, is an imposed Western geographical conceit, a left over of Roman renaming after the catastrophic Second Jewish Revolt under Bar Kochba. Its purpose remains the same, though: to obscure the historical Jewish connection to the land.

    1. There are also no modern maps in Arabic that identify an area called ‘Palestine’ because they can’t write that word

Remember that for much of Arab/Muslim history, the Arabs acknowledged the connection between the Jews and the land of Israel. This historical falsification is relatively new and politically-motivated.

      1. There is even confirmation in the Quran
Pharoah sought to scare them [the Jews] out of the land [of Israel]: but We [Allah] drowned him, together with all who were with him. Then We said to the Israelites: ‘Dwell in this land. When the promise of the hereafter comes to be fulfilled, We shall assemble you all together [in the Land of Israel in the End of Days]”.
[Qur’an: Sura 17, “The Night Journey”, verse 103]

Thanks for the reference. And of course, the early Muslims prayed facing Jerusalem, copying Jewish prayer. They also conquered Jerusalem as a symbolic act, knowing full well its Jewish status.

  2. I’ll wait for a list of Kings, Presidents or rulers of said Palestine as well as the name of the place they ruled from.

    1. MorganCourtenay

Ha! Yes, I’m waiting for that, too. The absurdity of Palestinian revisionism makes itself manifest when a group of people who are almost all Arab claim to have lived in a land when they only arrived around 2200 years after the Kingdom of Judah existed.

    1. MorganCourtenay

Right. I mean, the whole Genesis of Jewish identity, culture, religion and language comes from Israel, which existed as two kingdoms prior to many other nations of the Middle East.

Palestine as a nation was conjured from thin air. The whole concept is a pseudo-intellectual ball of fluff. The original Syria-Palaestina was a name imposed upon the Jews to punish them for revolting against the Roman invasion. It’s funny how I’ve seen pro-Palestine activists begin their timeline at AD70. What happened before then? You slowly get them to admit that Jews lived there, and point out that there was NEVER a time when the land had no Jews. The only people who have had a homeland here are the Jews/Hebrews and therefore their homeland here is by virtue of national, historical and moral right.

  4. Very interesting own goal by the Arab supporters of a Palestine that was never an Islamic State. The only reason the maps state “Palestine” was the fact that the land was known as that when early maps were made. However it has nothing to do with modern day Arab Palestinians. The word Palestine is what the Romans gave to the land of Israel in the 2nd century AD. The Romans crushed the revolt of Shimon Bar Kokhba (132 AD), during which Judea was renamed Palaestina in an attempt to minimize Jewish identification with the land of Israel. However the ancient Philistines (were the name comes from) were not even Arabs, nor even Semites, but were most closely related to the ancient Greeks. What is also really annoying is a lack of Biblical knowledge. Even the New Testament states that the land wasn’t “Palestine” but actually named Israel. In the gospel of Matthew chapter 2 verse 19 -21, we read, “After Herod’s death, an angel of Adonai appeared in a dream to Yosef in Egypt and said, “Get up, take the child (Yeshua – Jesus) and his mother, and go to Eretz-Yisra’el, for those who wanted to kill the child are dead.” So he got up, took the child and his mother, and went back to Eretz-Yisra’el.” All the standard translations of the New Testament state “Israel”. It’s a shame that even many Christians don’t realise this.

      1. For 400 years under the Turks it was the Sanjak (district) of Jerusalem. At no time did an Arab ‘people’ arise claiming to be indigenous until 1964 at the instigation of the KGB.

  5. Great “detective work” highlighting the fine print on the maps!! Too bad the Palestinians miss the entire point – everybody knows the name “Palestine” existed and referred to this geographical location. But a “Palestinian people” did not exist. There were Jewish Palestinians and Arab Palestinians. The former has far more history and a much longer continuous presence in that land.

  6. OMG, I just made another astounding discovery! The “Jerusalem Post” used to be named the “Palestine Post” before they returned the name “Palestine” to its rightful owners and co-opted “Jerusalem.” And both iterations of the newspaper are decidedly Jewish. [Note: there is a little sarcasm here…]

    1. The Palestine Post was started in the 1920s. It was the main English-language newspaper in the Palestine Mandate which Britain held on the authority of the League of Nations from 1922 to 1948. The name was thus entirely appropriate. Sometime in May 1948 it changed its name to the Jerusalem Post. The ownership of the paper was always Jewish.

  7. Palestine is the Roman name for Judea as of 135 CE. It has never been an Arab country. Only in 1964 did the KGB create the Arab Palestinians with a false narrative relating to an Arab Palestine. The Mandate for Palestine refers to Jews and non-Jews, the Arab Palestinians are a fiction created for a political purpose, a Trojan Horse to destroy Israel.
