Hamas Backtracks

In a press release (or rather a ‘Military Communiqué’) yesterday, Hamas suggested that last week’s heinous attack on a school bus was not deliberate.

Al-Qassam Brigades’ operations during the last Forty-Eight hours:

First: Targeting a bus was traveling between the Zionist military sites on the strip border, east of Gaza City, at around three o’clock on Thursday, 07.04.2011, ??near the so-called “Kfar Saad,” the bus was passing in the way of tanks and artillery.

They must either take us for fools (or the typical mainstream news media outlet), or not be able to keep track of their own lies.

For a start, the weaponry they used – namely a 9M133 Kornet rocket – clearly indicated a deliberate attack. According to the IDF, it is laser guided; meaning once it is shot, it always hits its target.

Not only that, but here is how they claimed responsibility for the attack on Thursday.

Al Qassam website – Gaza-Ezzedeen Al Qassam Brigades (E.Q.B) the military wing of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas declared in a military communiqué released on Thursday April 7, 201l the full responsibility for the operation of targeting Israeli bus traveling in the nearby Israeli settlement of Kfar Sa’ad east of Gaza Strip.

The brigades said that its fighters have targeted an Israeli bus at 15:05 PM.

The operation left two Israeli settlers injured, one of them was in a critical condition and evacuated by the Israeli medical crews to Soroka hospital.

The Brigaeds confirmed in its military communiqué that the operation is a primary response on the Israeli occupation crimes led recently to the killing of three Qassam leaders Ismail Lubad, Abdullah Lubad and Mohammed al Dahya in an Israeli air strike in Khan Younis city south of Gaza Strip.

Sounds like a proud declaration of responsibility for targeting the bus carrying what they termed as “settlers.”

Not only that, but they posted photos below this declaration of responsibility, photos like the following clearly showing a blown-up school bus.

Besides the yellow color clearly identifying the bus as one for school children, the Hebew word for children – yeladim – is clearly seen at the top of it. Yet Hamas admitted to targeting it and then gleefully posted the photos.

The sad thing is, for too many, the distinction does not matter. I realize you, my dear readers, were already appalled by the attack. But for others, the fact that Hamas deliberately attacked a school bus merely points to how desperate Israel has made the palestinians.

And facts are hardly the panacea for a faulty moral compass.
