The Palestinian Center for Human Rights has a problem with palestinian celebrations in the wake of the Shalit-for-terrorists-swap.
No, not because they see a problem with being joyous over the release of people who brutally murdered men, women and children. But rather because the celebrations themselves lead to injuries.
Some 20 people including six children suffered injuries Tuesday during celebrations following the Israel-Hamas prisoner swap, a human rights group has said.
The incidents constituted a form of misuse of weapons and assaults on the rule of law in the occupied territories, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights said in a report issued Wednesday.
Eleven Palestinians, including four children and two women, were admitted to Shifa hospital in Gaza City after suffering injuries from bullets and shrapnel during celebrations of the release of prisoners.
In Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, three Palestinians including a child were injured due to shootings in celebration of the release of prisoners, the rights group said.
Six people including a child and a woman were also injured in Rafah, it added.
The PCHR said it was concerned by casualties resulting from the use of weapons in celebrations, “which constitutes a form of misuse of weapons and assaults on the rule of law.”
It called on the government “to search for the perpetrators of such incidents and bring them before justice, and to take necessary measures to ensure the non-recurrence of such incidents.”
No word yet on whether any hotel rooms were also casualties of the celebrations.
