Another Israeli Cool Product: Electric Bicycle Conversion Kits

Freedom eBike Brompton on the Tel Aviv coastApart from electric cars, the streets of Tel Aviv seem to be filling up with electric bicycles and scooters. I rather like this and see it as a positive development. Sure, pedaling alone is more healthy, but it has to be the case that all these electric bikes are removing many car journeys from the roads and when you’re battling in the summer heat, a little assistance goes a long way. The step-through electric bike is experiencing a surge in popularity and there’s a low-step variant for most models. You can see the reviews of similar e-bikes on Top9Rated.

There are so many forms and power to choose from that you’ll surely find something that fits your needs. You can also read Kennith Millers review on the Jetson electric bike here: https://scooteradviser.com/jetson-electric-bike-review

While these great ebikes similar to this Macfox eBike come in all shapes and sizes, the one I’m most impressed with is that owned by a friend. He has the most amazing folding bike and it’s electric. He has designed and had manufactured (partly in Israel) his own conversion kit that will fit most bicyles. That means you can take the very best bike and make it electric with the very highest quality battery, motor and controller. No compromises with cheap Chinese bikes.

His Freedom eBikes kit is interesting because, unlike with cars, he can use the very latest in batteries and motors. Cars take so long to design and build, they’re often using pretty old tech by the time we get to drive them. For example, he is using a 1 kg battery that holds roughly twice as much energy as the battery in my car holds per kg.

On the lightweight, folding Brompton bike the kit is good for an impressive 50km on the flat and 25km in more hilly terrain. That’s as an assistance to pedalling. Once the kit reaches 25 kmh the rider pedals with little effort to maintain that speed. It’s very natural and it just feels right to keep your legs turning, even though you’re not putting in much effort.

My friend is interested in selling kits, installing his kits on bicycles for you and in finding distributors around the world. Get in touch with him via his website or through me and I’ll connect you.
