Those Damn Racist Israelis Who Won’t Rape Palestinians

Hen Mazzig, one of the protagonists in the Silverstein Bullygate affair, recently wrote of the anti-Israel bigotry and hostility he encountered when speaking on college campuses, high schools, and churches in the US.

His piece has since gone viral, and while the entire thing is worth reading, one part in particular stands out for me.

idf helping palestinian womanTo give you a taste of the viciousness of the BDS attacks, let me cite just a few of the many shocking experiences I have had. At a BDS event in Portland, a professor from a Seattle university told the assembled crowd that the Jews of Israel have no national rights and should be forced out of the country. When I asked, “Where do you want them to go?” she calmly answered, “I don’t care. I don’t care if they don’t have any place else to go. They should not be there.” When I responded that she was calling for ethnic cleansing, both she and her supporters denied it. And during a presentation in Seattle, I spoke about my longing for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. When I was done, a woman in her 60’s stood up and yelled at me, “You are worse than the Nazis. You are just like the Nazi youth!” A number of times I was repeatedly accused of being a killer, though I have never hurt anyone in my life. On other occasions, anti-Israel activists called me a rapist. The claims go beyond being absurd – in one case, a professor asked me if I knew how many Palestinians have been raped by IDF forces. I answered that as far as I knew, none. She triumphantly responded that I was right, because, she said, “You IDF soldiers don’t rape Palestinians because Israelis are so racist and disgusted by them that you won’t touch them.”

Yep. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Interestingly enough, this is not even the first time the accusation has been made.

A research paper that won a Hebrew University teachers’ committee prize finds that the lack of IDF rapes of Palestinian women is designed to serve a political purpose.

The abstract of the paper, authored by doctoral candidate Tal Nitzan, notes that the paper shows that “the lack of organized military rape is an alternate way of realizing [particular] political goals.”

The next sentence delineates the particular goals that are realized in this manner: “In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it can be seen that the lack of military rape merely strengthens the ethnic boundaries and clarifies the inter-ethnic differences – just as organized military rape would have done.”

The paper further theorizes that Arab women in Judea and Samaria are not raped by IDF soldiers because the women are de-humanized in the soldiers’ eyes.

The paper was published by the Hebrew University’s Shaine Center, based on the recommendation of a Hebrew University professors’ committee headed by Dr. Zali Gurevitch.

“I do not have the entire text in front of me,” Gurevitch said, when contacted by Arutz-7, “and I don’t think we can jump to conclusions based on partial sentences, but I can say the following: This was a very serious paper that asked two important questions: Is the relative lack of IDF rapes a noteworthy phenomenon, and if so, why is it that there are so few IDF rapes when in similar situations around the world, rape is much more common?”

And let’s not forget Deborah Orr’s argument at the time of the Gilad Shalit-for-terrorists-exchange.

Folks, let’s face it. Haters of Israel invariably don’t base their views on factual arguments or logic. They simply can’t. They base it on sheer ignorance or a loathing of Jews.

  1. You are damned if you rape and damned if you don’t! With ‘academics’ like Gurevitch and Nitzan leeching the Israeli state – and yet never called to account – the U.S. professor can hardly be blamed for her pot-fuelled rants.

  2. I remember hearing about Nitzan’s paper a few years ago. For me, it absolutely sums up the hate-Israel attitude: Israel is evil, we just have to figure out how to explain away the facts so it supports our position.

  3. What a disgusting photo. You should have included a warning about it. If those evil soldiers had even a shred of humanity or decency, they’d be raping her.

  4. I heard rumors concerning that story before but I still somewhat can’t believe the argument that Israel is evil for IDF soldiers not committing offences.

    1. Kim, hang around message boards for any length of time and it will become all-too-believable.

      * Israel sends aid mission to Haiti–must be there to harvest organs
      * Israel treats Syrians in field hospitals and in hospitals in Israel (at Israeli taxpayer expense)–to draw attention away from its genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians
      * Population in Gaza and WB grows dramatically–must be Israelis kicking them out of Israel
      * Arab Israeli population grows–well, it’s a slow genocide, doncha know…

I promise you, there’s absolutely nothing on the face of the Earth that can’t be twisted against Israel by a truly determined hater.

      1. Very true. Reading the message boards and “news” articles is very depressing. I expect such contortions from non-Jewish anti-semites, but I can’t wrap my brain around Israeli Jews doing it. It’s a phenomenon that I just don’t understand no matter how many ways it’s explained to me.

    1. Not as long as you have Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz hanging out at national monuments wrapped in the American flag. These two are the biggest scoundrels there are using patriotic veterans as bit players for their partisan tea party politics.

      1. At the time Obama shut down the monuments, he had the Republicans on the ropes over their kamikaze attacks on his healthcare program. But instead of cancelling a few rounds of golf to save money, he just about snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with this ugly display. Such stupidity.

      2. Its so easy to malign popular Republicans. Ted Cruz is a great person and an American hero. Do you realized that we cannot afford the current spending levels? That we added over half a trillion dollars in debt every year? That we havent had a budget since 2007? This is all Democrat doing. They have wanted massive spending increases with no brake, and want to eliminate the remaining bastion of economic freedom.

      3. The only scoundrels are Obama and Reid, who refuse to cut spending or make any changes at all. The default is all on Obama and his ginormous budget. If the media would actually report on this, he wouldnt have a single supporter outside the White House.

  5. Those who can assert that the lack of rape is the result of Israel’s soldiers considering Falestini less than human know nothing of sex or rape. Rape is only tangentially related to sex, because the sexual organs are sometimes involved. Of itself it is an attempt to assert dominance. The motivation is the feeling of power over another that drives the rapist, not sexual gratification. Dehumanizing the victim is the first prerequisite. If the proposed thesis is correct then there should be a large number of rapes characterized by excessive and grotesque violence; not the absence of rape noted in all research.
    As has already been stated:
“Israel is evil, we just have to figure out how to explain away the facts so it supports our position.”
    and
“I promise you, there’s absolutely nothing on the face of the Earth that can’t be twisted against Israel by a truly determined hater.”
This accusation reveals more about the accuser than the accused. The absurd grandiosity is a dead giveaway for “projection”; one of the retreats from reason that enabler/co-dependents must employ to rationalize the dysfunctional behavior of the addicts they insist on infantalizing to satisfy their own issues.

    1. I have never seen any clear proof that rape is about dominance. While that may play some role in some rapes, I dont think that is always the case. It can be argued that sex in general is about dominance, but dominance and power is not always a bad thing. Ultimately, the woman will basically always have to surrender and submit in some fashion.

      Who said these?

We should honor kill them then. In public. On YouTube. The appear to support that. And by them I mean the academics and such mentioned in the piece.

    1. Or have them gang-raped by Arab Muslims, and then commission a follow-up paper to expound on how the authors felt validated and humanized by such an anti-racist act. :-/

  7. I can’t see how racism prevented German soldiers of the Wehrmacht and SS from raping Jewish and other women of “lower races”, or European conquerors and colonizers from raping local women in Africa, America or Australia. That’s why our enemies who use this argument are blatantly lying.

Maybe it’s because they are used to rape their own women that they are surprised by the humane attitude of IDF servicemen?

  8. though I agree wholeheartedly as to the outrageousness of the accusation against Israel’s military I wish you or whoever hadn’t used a picture of an old woman –

if and when soldiers snap and go on raping rampages they don’t discriminate on age according to what Berlin women tell i.e. when the circumstances are right i.e. choice is limited they take them all.

and that is in stark contrast to what young and not so young men like to express when sex with old women is mentioned.

    1. Rape with ANY woman including old women has nothing to do with availability or attraction; rape is ALWAYS about power! This is true whether the act is against an individual woman or it is symbolically against a group of people.

      1. I will reiterate here as well:
I have never seen any clear proof that rape is about dominance or power. While that may play some role in some rapes, I dont think that is always the case. It can be argued that sex in general is about dominance, but dominance and power is not always a bad thing. Ultimately, the woman will basically always have to surrender and submit in some fashion.

  9. Believe it or not, this was actually a PhD thesis at Hebrew University. Google “Tal Nitzan” if you’re not convinced.

  10. Does anybody know the name of this (female) professor at Seattle University? I assume the comments were made in a public venue and the professors are public figures.

  11. Only education can obliterate this racist conduct. Raise funding from some European NGO and roll out a good, strong pro-rape program. Make it part of basic training. Back it with BDS. Report progress to the UNHRC. Nothing less will do.
