So here’s what happened. A group of anti-Israel protesters disrupted a Council meeting at the exact time a resolution commemorating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz – and the murder of 1.1 million innocents – was being discussed.
NY Councilman David Greenfield – the grandson of Holocaust survivors – hit back hard. And well (hat tip Naomi).
It turns out the protesters were members of Jewish Voices for Peace. And they claim they screwed up.
Notice what is missing from their post?
Yep, an apology.
It bares mentioning the meeting agenda was published ahead of time. So they are either lying or are just plain stupid.
However, what it may also suggest is the protesters are not antisemitic, given they are Jewish themselves. I said may – Jews can be antisemites (just ask Gilad Atzmon). But we have to be honest – they may also just hate Israel (not that this makes it right).
Nevertheless, I commend Councilman Greenfield’s passionate speech, which does apply to the vast majority of “anti Israel” protesters were are seeing today.
