“Of Course Yes, Death To America”

On Tuesday I wrote about the Washington Free Beacon’s report on a call between White House officials and liberal advocacy groups, in which the officials stressed the need to exert pressure on Democratic lawmakers to ensure that they support the emerging nuclear deal with Iran. (Apparently the administration is using the carrot and stick approach, simultaneously trying to wine and dine those whose support he needs.) Later Tuesday, the Beacon revealed another aspect of that call: the administration’s effort to pressure Jewish groups by relying on a misleading survey from the Soros-funded lobby group J-Street.

The President clearly believes that Democrats in Congress can be persuaded to forget or overlook the inherently genocidal nature of the Iranian regime.

As recently as March, however, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei presided at a rally which people began chanting “Death to America.” The Supreme Leader’s response? “Of course yes, death to America.” Not just death to America, but of course yes, death to America.

Khamenei has also presided over crowds chanting “Death to America” in April of this year, March of 2014, November of 2013 . . . . How many times does he need to say it before we take him seriously?

Even if we still don’t believe Khamenei’s crowds, moreover, the “moderate” President Hassan Rouhani, in May of 2013 explained that, “saying ‘Death to America’ is easy. We need to express ‘Death to America’ with action. Saying it is easy.”

This week alone, members of the Iranian government have called for the destruction of Israel, not once, but twice. Khamenei advisor Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani “called for the destruction of Israel and described the country as ‘alien’ and ‘temporary,'” according to The Tower blog. The Tower also reported that, “ahead of Friday’s commemoration of Qods Day, an Iranian holiday calling for the destruction of Israel, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a release stating that the annihilation of the Jewish state ‘is Muslims’ first priority.'”

The regime shows no indications of moderation since November, when a twitter account believed to be associated with Khamenei tweeted an infographic explaining why and how he believes Israel should be eliminated. Contrary to the President’s assertions, there is no reason to expect that this regime will change in the foreseeable future.
