WATCH: What Happens In Israel When “Blind Man” Asks For Change While Holding Wrong Bill

From Israel’s Channel 2 this morning: An Australia show had an actor pretend to be blind, and ask people to break a five dollar bill for him. Except he was holding a $100 bill. Many people took advantage of the situation, either giving him 5 single dollars, or stealing the $100.

An Israeli student decided to replicate this social experiment, except he held either a 100 or 200 shekel bill while asking for change for a 20 shekel one.

After dozens of encounters, guess how many people took advantage of him?

Yup, none.

      1. If it was on that show “What Would You Do?”, it was most likely staged. I watched it for ten minutes once. It showed that lots of men would help a dark, “ethnic”-looking young lady change her tire; then, she put a hijab on her head, and then no one stopped to help the same woman do the same thing … EXCEPT for a Muslim man, who then gave her an inspirational speech about the Islamic obligations to 1) help anyone in need, and 2) not resent the Americans for their refusal to do the same, because G-d wants universal love and peace. I never saw anything more poorly staged in all my born days, and I go to a lot of community theater!

  1. Israelis are usually quite decent about stuff like this.
They’re the most decent people I’ve come across about the big stuff.
On the small stuff like cutting in line, it’s another story altogether!
