“I come bearing an olive branch in one hand, and the freedom fighter’s gun in the other. Do not let the olive branch fall from my hand.
Peace for us means the destruction of Israel. We are preparing for an all-out war, a war which will last for generations.
In order to obtain the goal of returning to Palestine, all of us sometimes have to grit our teeth.
Dropping the Olive Branch
As Arafat himself stated in the above quote, he never intended to live side-by-side, in peace and security with a Jewish State – his goal was the destruction of Israel.
Ignoring Arafat’s own words, the West, led by the US, coerced Israel into the worst error in judgement in her history.
The Jews were told that if they would just succumb to a two-state solution then all of their problems with Arab Palestinian terror would be over. The helpless frustration of the “occupation” is what was causing the Jihad attacks on Israeli civilians they were told. And oh, did they want to believe that. Behaving like the abused spouse in a violent marriage, Israel desperately bought into it. If there was something they could do to stop the bloodshed they would do it.
Since this was all built on a foundation of lies and deceit, we can see the results. More bloodshed and an increase in hatred and incitement from the PLO/Palestinian Authority, even teaching their children in school that it is a righteous and noble cause to murder the Jews.
Locked on the Horns of a Dilemma
Countries in the West now find themselves facing the same murderous attacks, as the global Islamic Jihad, that was once contained within Israel, has metastasized all over the world, with the most recent attack taking place in Brussels. All the placating and appeasement by the European governments have only made things much worse and emboldened the Jihad. That is because this fight has never been about land, it has been about militant Islamic Jihad.
With Arafat’s emphatic declaration of war that went unheeded, we can now witness with our own eyes how absurd it has been to delude ourselves with the fantasy that a two-state solution was ever going to solve the violence and bloodshed. It won’t work for Israel and it won’t work for the West. The Jihadists want it all.
Canary in the Coal Mine
A Facebook friend, an Israeli living in Tel Aviv, wrote:
“I wonder how long it will take before some European politician announces that if only there were a peace agreement between Israel and the so called Palestinians the terror in Europe would subside. They might even claim that it is their moral duty to impose such an agreement or at least sanctions on Israel.
At the same time they will be begging Israel for help with security and technology because they know our way works while theirs is an utter failure. And we will help them because we, at least, believe that all lives matter.”
