29-year-old Rabbi Itamar Ben Gal did not die yesterday. He did not pass from this world in peace. He did not drift into an eternal blissful sleep.
He was murdered. Savagely.
Ripped from this world by an Arab whose family will receive the highest honors from the Palestinian Authority who will likely shower him with praise, name town squares or schools after him, and compensate him with money kindly donated by the European Union or the United Nations and other international bodies – the same bodies who demand that Israel slice its country in two and give part of it to a terrorist entity.
Now some will try to justify this murder by saying it was an isolated incident borne out of frustration, but it wasn’t and it isn’t. This Arab murderer was not a lone wolf. He was part of an incitement campaign that has been going on for decades. A campaign that says killing Jews will bring your family honour and will liberate the fictitious country of Palestine. A campaign that says only through blood and murder will you be free. A campaign that does not work for the creation of a new country, but the destruction of another. A campaign that deals in hate and destruction, rather than love and creation.
This savagery is not only fueled by the palestinans, but by those in the world who continually demand from Israel that they should appease the terrorists, give them stuff, be nice to them, because maybe then things will be okay. The palestinians wouldn’t be able to continue if it wasn’t for a world who thinks it’s okay to deny Jewish history, to remove us from the history books, to unmake all the things we have made, to pass resolution after resolution that tries to unravel the pages of time and unwrite the history of the Jewish people.
If this makes you angry, it should. We should all be angry. We should stand up and tell the world, no more demands from Israel. No more appeasement to a terrorist entity hell-bent on our destruction. No more demands by dictators who bleat on about oppression and poverty while their fake unelected leader forks out $50 million dollars on a private jet.
No more.
A 29-year-old Jewish man was murdered in his own Jewish country by an evil entity that should never receive reward, should never receive compensation and should never receive a moment’s rest.
But murder was not the only crime committed that day. Because this evil entity not only killed a man – they stole a future too. He was taken from his beautiful family, his loving wife and his four children who looked up to him with awe and amazement, the way young children always do at their parents. They stole his future and his family’s future too, leaving a hole in their world that can never truly be filled.
Many in this world are also trying to steal Israel’s future and trying to deny everything it can be.
But it is up to the Jews of this world to ensure that they fail in this task.
Because the future of Israel is ours, not theirs. And just as Itamar will never be erased from the hearts of his family and his community, the story of the Jewish people will also not be erased from history.
It will live on…forever.
