Two weeks ago, an antisemite entered the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, aimed his firearm at the Jewish congregants, and murdered 11 of them. He did so because he believed “All Jews must die.” Mainstream media outlets were all over the story, and condemnation of his bloodthirsty act was almost universal, with even the likes of Linda Sarsour joining the choir.
Since yesterday afternoon, antisemites have fired over 300 rockets and mortar rounds at Jews, murdering one person and injuring tens of others. They did so because they believe all Jews must die. Mainstream media outlets have either been silent or painted it as tit-for-tat, and condemnation of this bloodthirsty terror campaign has been anything but universal, with the likes of Linda Sarsour either silent or defending the terrorists.
If you believe they cannot be compared because of the casualty count, I say to you this is not because of different intent. In both cases, Jew haters have deliberately targeted innocent Jews for elimination. The difference is that when it comes to Gazan rockets fired at Israel, we have a Code Red alert system to warn our citizens and bomb shelters to run to – otherwise, thousands of Israelis would be dead from these recent attacks alone.
The Tree of Life congregants had no such warning nor anywhere to hide.
If you believe they cannot be compared because the terrorists are really just “resisting occupation”, I say to you pay more attention to what they say in Arabic and not to gullible Western audiences in English. This conflict is about Jew hatred. For instance, the Hamas charter expressly states: “The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!” Even the secular PLO are Jew haters who cannot stand the idea of Jews “contaminating” this land. Otherwise, they would have accepted our multiple peace offers by now. Besides, the palestinian Arabs have been murdering Jews from well before 1948.
So yes, if you condemned the Pittsburgh Synagogue shooting but not rockets aimed at Israeli men, women and children, then you are a virtue signaling hypocrite.
