Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib’s Freudian Slip & Other Bizarre Statements About the Holocaust

From an interview with Yahoo News Skullduggery podcast, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib had this to say:

Let me tell you, I mean, for me, just two weeks ago or so, we celebrated, but just took a moment I think in our country to remember the Holocaust.

That’s quite the unfortunate slip, but the longer she spoke, the more of her foot she seemed to swallow:

There’s kind of a calming feeling, I always tell folks, when I think of the Holocaust and the tragedy of the Holocaust and the fact that it was my ancestors, Palestinians who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, the human dignity, their existence in some ways had been wiped out.. all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post the Holocaust, post the tragedy and horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And, I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right? In many ways. But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away, right? And it was forced on them.

If her ancestors were truly in what was Palestine at the time, they might have been part of the efforts to prevent the Jews of Europe (and from the Arab world) from getting there – or the Arab efforts to murder the Jews who actually made it.

Plus does Tlaib really “love the fact” a safe haven was provided for Jews in the land? Judging by her hatred towards Israel and the company she keeps, I am guessing she would rather we had gone back to Europe.
