Amnesty International Ignores Hero’s Holocaust Era Heroics

Today, Amnesty International Australia decided to honor a wonderful man called William Cooper.

William was indeed a a tireless campaigner for Aboriginal rights in Australia. But he is also very well known for lodging a personal protest against the treatment of European Jews in Nazi Germany following Kristallnacht. In fact, just yesterday I read how the Australian government will spend $6 million to build a Holocaust museum in my hometown city of Perth, which will include a Holocaust Museum and a memorial named after William (right at the Jewish community center at which I attended many functions over the years – including my Bar Mitzvah reception!)

Yet Amnesty International Australia did not see it fit to mention this part of William’s amazing legacy. Apparently, trying to save Jews while the world turned a blind eye to our plight is not even worthy of a byline to them.

At the end of my previous post on Amnesty International I wrote

Amnesty International has long shown they believe all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others…the others being the Jewish ones.

I can’t help but think this really is another example of this, albeit one that does not involve bashing Israel.
