As someone who spends a lot of time exposing lies and falsehoods from the Israel-haters – not to mention checking the veracity of information and sources – it irks me no end when Israel advocates spread false information, albeit inadvertently.
Case in point: this meme has been doing the rounds on Facebook
Dave’s rule of thumb: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Entering ‘Mick Jagger Israel twittered’ into Google brings up a 2013 Jewish Press article containing the above quote. At the bottom appears these words:
Don’t get me started on the Jewish Press – this is another example as to why I would be loathe to ever use them as a source.
Be that as it may, clearly many Israel advocates, in their excitement, did not bother reading until the end, and have spread this false quote to all and sundry.
So please be careful. When confronted with such a quote, try to verify it is true.
We have truth and morality on our side, so let’s not spread inaccurate information.
