BENNY GANTZ PROSECUTED FOR WAR CRIMES IN HOLLAND
Today, Ismail Ziada, represented by Dutch lawyer Liesbeth Zegveld, has filed a notice of appeal against the decision of the District Court of The Hague on the case brought against Benny Gantz, former Chief of General Staff of the Israeli armed forces and Amir Eshel, former Commander of the Israeli air force for war crimes committed in Gaza. Mr Ziada contends that the court erred in its decision to offer functional immunity to the defendants, as such immunity is not enjoyed for war crimes.
Mr Ziada, who is of Palestinian origin, is seeking to hold the defendants accountable for the targeted attack on the Ziada family home on 20 July 2014 which resulted in the death of Mr Ziada’s 70-year-old mother, three brothers, his sister-in-law, a 12-year-old nephew and a visiting friend. Mr Ziada contends that the attack was a violation of international humanitarian law and constituted a gross violation of internationally recognised human rights principles.

Naturally, what Waters is presenting is not the full story.
The incident occurred during Operation Protective Edge, when Hamas and other terrorist groups fired thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians – from civilian areas in Gaza. The IDF broadcast warnings to Gaza civilians before firing at the terrorist sites in Gaza, to give innocents an opportunity to get out of harm’s way.
Of course, the notion of who was completely innocent is a thorny issue. For instance, is a non-combatant who volunteers their house to be used as a Hamas command center truly innocent? Nevertheless, the IDF made an effort to minimize civilian casualties, at a time when Hamas was trying to maximize them, both on the palestinian and Israeli sides.
In this particular case, the house was being used as a war room by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Of the 7 killed in the attack, four were terrorists. Ziada himself claimed “only one” was a Hamas member, but an inactive one. I know out of the IDF and Ziada who I believe.
But in Waters’ world, Hamas and the other terror groups can do no wrong. Firing thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians is justified, even when done from palestinian civilian areas.
On a side note, I actually enjoyed watching the video Waters posted. It shows just how much he has aged these last few years.
