Nick Cannon: I Am Repenting and Trying to Grow

ABC News has interviewed Nick Cannon about his antisemitic remarks and subsequent process of making amends.

I really appreciate his approach.

To be clear: I do not agree with everything he says. I do not believe all of the antisemitism we have seen from the Black community arises from frustration. To be blunt, I think so much of it arises from the poison being spouted by Louis Farrakhan.

But as I have said before, I think Cannon has the ability to help effect real change in relations between the two communities. I appreciate how he has internalized the Jewish concept of teshuva, and how this has led to tangible results like the Black-Jewish Entertainment Alliance.

He is correct that apologies can be empty without real growth and action. And what we are seeing with him is, I believe, the latter.
