When the Rev. Dr. Bernice Powell Jackson, President of the North American region of the World Council of Churches and pastor of First United Church of Tampa sat for an interview at a meeting of the Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference (SDPC), and tacitly suggested that American Blacks are the real Jews, not a single media outlet covered it. Despite the press release.
SDPC, a recognized NGO of the United Nations, was co-founded in 2003 by the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., pastor emeritus, Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Dr. Iva Carruthers, a member of the National African American Reparations Commission and former Chair of the Sociology Department at Northeastern Illinois University, and Rev. Dr. Frederick Haynes III.
The SDPC’s mission statement reflects a desire to fuse biblical revisionism with radical Left politics.
At a 2016 SDPC round table, “Journey to Justice: From Black America to Palestine,” a conversation among religious scholars, SDPC released a 32 page comprehensive curriculum on Palestine and Black America entitled “Journeys Toward Justice: A Guide for Congregational Study.”
Meanwhile, Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP), a coalition of 30 progressive, anti-Israel church groups formed in 1984, quietly churns out press releases applauding the Biden administration’s reinstatement of UNWRA funds, or the introduction of Rep. Betty McCollum’s HR 2590 the Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act. Powell-Jackson’s United Church of Christ, signs on enthusiastically. This is the church of the Obamas and Oprah.
The Religious Left continues to draw no separation between Church and State as it wages war on Capitalism, Nation-States, and Israel.
Jackson and Carruthers co-authored The Breach: Bearing Witness, highlighting the SDPC’s Katrina National Justice Commission. The report, which was released for distribution at the 36th Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Weekend, notes appreciation to Senator Barack Obama, his staff, and to General Russel Honoré.
Here is Jackson giving Hamas-tied CAIR an award in 2011:
“We should be giving an award to CAIR, both here in Tampa and across this nation, for the work you are doing, not just on behalf of the Muslim community but on behalf of us all. For every time you challenge stereotypes or discrimination on behalf of Muslims, you challenge them on behalf of us all.”
Finally, Jackson’s Tampa congregation hosted “Sami Al-Arian – Farewell to Tampa” on January 17, 2015.
Conservative Black Americans will save this country; they will not back down. They deserve our deepest thanks, our utmost support, and our prayers.
