NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is not actually a Rabbi, nor does he play one on television. But he is a mensch and a wise man. So it is no surprise to me that his Yom Kippur message was profound:
“For me, atonement and repentance are the foundation of any humane civilization, through prayer, meditation or simply self-reflection we admit our failings and try to do better. This is humanity at it’s noblest and our only hope for a just society”
And Kareem is an example of humanity at its noblest.
