Last month, I posted about Israel-hater Shameela Shakeel, a nomination contestant for the Ontario Liberal Party in Newmarket-Aurora, Ontario whose candidacy was stopped by what she called “special interests.”
Shakeel kept things cryptic, meaning it was not entirely clear which “special interests” she was blaming. I posited she could be blaming the “Israel lobby”, given she has complained about being targeted for her views on Israel-“Palestine,” but it still wasn’t clear. She had also been accused of misrepresenting her qualifications, and had intimated racism was at play.
At the time I wrote:
It should be interesting to see if Shakeel goes beyond euphemistic tweets and tells us who she really blames.
And sure enough, she has blamed it on those who object to her being “pro-Palestine.”
Note how she complains she has been unfairly accused of antisemitism. This interview, in addition to her prior tweet – both blaming her downfall on “special interests”- don’t help her cause, given they play into the antisemitic trope of a powerful lobby. Ditto for tweeting that the entire Jewish state of Israel is illegitimate.
Repeatedly disseminating the vile “apartheid” Amnesty Report does not help her case either:

Instead of playing victim, Shakeel needs to really consider the implications of her words.
