Khaliq Raufi Resigns Over Antisemitic Bible Comments. Turns Out They Were Just Tip of Iceberg

A few days I posted about Khaliq Raufi, the member of San Diego County’s Human Relations Commission who was defending a fellow commissioner accused of saying antisemitic things by… saying antisemitic things.

In Raufi’s case, he claimed the “Book of Jews” (i.e. the Torah, known to our Christian friends as the Old Testament) stated “‘”Go kill Palestinians. Wipe them all out.”

I am happy to report that Raufi has resigned.

San Diego County Supervisor Joel Anderson announced Wednesday that Human Relations Commissioner Khaliq Raufi had resigned over his antisemitic comments during an official meeting last week.

“Commissioner Raufi’s ignorant comments were hurtful and in no way reflect my personal views, but they do highlight the urgent need to focus on education, bridge building, and to advocate for tolerance,” said Anderson, who appointed Raufi. “After meeting with Commissioner Raufi, I have received his resignation letter.”

Raufi’s comments were reported as a “hate incident” to California’s new CA vs. Hate hotline.

This is great news, but what this story is missing is an apology from Raufi. Instead, we get the San Diego County Supervisor making excuses for his vile remarks, claiming there was no malice, only ignorance:

Anderson called it “deeply offensive to quote the religious texts from other’s faiths to support any political or intolerant narrative” but added that he believed Raufi’s comments “came from a place of ignorance but without malice.”

He said he encouraged Raufi to pursue further conversation to “learn from this moment and build a bridge of understanding and tolerance with the Jewish community.”

I dunno. A look at Raufi’s Facebook page reveals what looks to me like some pretty malicious antisemitism:

(this is notorious antisemite Rick Wiles of TruNews by the way)

This is just a sample of his antisemitic posts.

And naturally, Raufi claims he is an “anti-Zionist-not-antisemite”:

So I am not buying the whole “it was just a comment out of ignorance, not malice” palaver. This guy has a history of posting some very insidious lies and hate against the Jewish people.
