The Israeli army today recovered the bodies of six hostages.
It appears that the hostages were slaughtered shortly before the army reached them.
There are now (again) internal calls for a complete ceasefire, because it is our actions (Israel’s) that are causing the hostages to die, through our inaction in this respect.
The Americans, on the other hand, seem to have no doubt about where the blame lies, and they aren’t pointing fingers at Israel this time.
Netanyahu said it right, “Anyone that kills hostages – is not interested in making a deal.”‘ This should be self evident, since destroying your collateral is not a viable negotiating technique.
This fact, among others, shows that Hamas is not negotiating.
I hope that all the American speeches, vowing retribution for Hersh, are not just hot air, and I pray that the Americans are beginning to understand the rules of the ‘Middle Eastern wargame,’ which they so obviously had no clue about.
The Middle East needs change, Israel’s legitimacy and right to exist, need to be recognized by all, in practice, not just the usual lip service.
The facts need to be checked, and the public perception changed to better reflect reality. The American government, can play a large part in making this happen.
That is of course, if they change their approach.
