Perth, Western Australia – while the fourth most populous city in Australia with a population of over 2.3 million within Greater Perth – is the most isolated big city in the world, with the closest large metropolis being Adelaide, 2,100km away.
There are only approximately 7,000 Jews in Perth (Australia’s Jewish population is around 117,000). I used to be one of them, before heading off to the Land of Milk and Honey almost 24 years ago.
Perth has just one Jewish school – a modern Orthodox one called Carmel School with around 410 students. I used to be one of them.
It is this solitary Jewish school servicing this relatively small Jewish community that Israel-haters decided to target with their protest yesterday
Because (I’ll say it again for the people at the back) – shitty people do shitty things.
As my friend Rabbi Dan told the media:
“If you’re in support of a terrorist organization and you’re chanting the slogans of terrorist organizations, it’s not a big step to go and do something as stupid and egregious as protesting outside (a) school…It’s a free country, they’re allowed to say and believe whatever they want, but I personally don’t believe that they should be protesting outside (a) school. They should exercise some common sense.”
He’s being kind. They are evil bullies.
And who are these particular, particularly shitty people? No idea as to their identities, but here are some of them, including Genocide Mario and Croc-of-shit Dundee:
Remember, this is not long after Melbourne Israel-haters targeted online a Jewish school in Melbourne, the same school that ‘Jew Die’ was graffitied on the outer wall of a few months ago.
Meanwhile, this vile behavior in Perth is not confined to a bunch of no-names. Lisa Baker, Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly representing the seat of Maylands, advertises her vile views with pride:
Baker is openly gay, so a KFC sign would be more appropriate.
