Anti-Israel Propaganda “Own Goal” of the Day

An Israel-hater has responded to an Israel supporter’s (accurate) contention that the old “Palestine” passport is hardly proof of a state of Palestine, given the letters (א”י) – abbreviation for ארץ ישראל (Hebrew for the land of Israel) appear on the document.

I can’t read Arabic but Google Translate can, and the Arabic at the top translates to “Passport”, while the Arabic at the bottom translates to “Government of Palestine.”

Hardly a slam dunk, given the Hebrew translates to the same, but with the addition of the (א”י), which clearly acknowledges the Jewish history of the land.

There is no similar abbreviation for “Land of Palestine” appearing in Arabic on the passport.

But perhaps the Israel-hater also needs to look at the front cover, which clearly states it is a British passport. Palestine was not a nation nor a country, but rather a region under British mandate following control by the Ottoman-Turks until after WWI.
