There are puff pieces and then there are fluff pieces: Canada’s CTV News has run this story about a Gazan refugee and her cats:
Now don’t get me wrong. I love a good cat story as much as the next guy; it is just that it seems the cat angle here is used to garner one-sided sympathy.
And in case, you think I am being mean-spirited about a poor Gazan refugee, a simple Google Search takes us to her Facebook profile, where she posts the usual anti-Israel propaganda and misinformation, including things that cross into antisemitism territory:

In other words, Canada didn’t just gain some more cats. It gained another Israel-hater and probable antisemite. Who will no doubt never discuss the fact Gaza has a cat cafe.
Meanwhile, Akkila has been interview by the mainstream media before, like in October 8 2023:
Ruba Akkila, a resident of Gaza, said that after Israel announced it will cut off even food supplies to the territory, she saw a man looking for remains of food in a garbage bin outside her building.
“This is going to be a really difficult thing for us,” she said. “We are living in the unknown. We don’t know if we are going to get a next meal.”
I would say her fears were unfoundered:
