The Golden Globes Win The Award For Biggest Hypocrites in Hollywood

And the winner of Biggest Hypocrites in Hollywood goes to…the Golden Globes.

These awards took place Sunday night, and featured a number of movies on the plight of Jews and the Jewish state, such as:

  • ‘The Brutalist’, about a fictional Hungarian-Jewish Bauhaus architect who moves to the US after surviving the Holocaust (it won three Golden Globes). In the movie, the character of the niece marries an observant Jew and moves to Israel.
  • ‘Emilia Perez’, a Spanish-language musical about a Mexican drug lord who gets in touch with his feminine side by becoming a woman, courtesy of a sensitive Jewish-Israeli doctor who performs the operation in Tel Aviv.
  • ‘September 5’, which charts the massacre of Israeli athletes by Palestinian terrorists at the 1972 Munich Olympics.
  • ‘A Real Pain’,  about two mismatched Jewish American cousins who travel to Poland in an attempt to honor their late grandmother.

Despite having all of these Jew-and-Israel-friendly movies eligible for awards and even win some, that seems to have been a bridge too far for the organizers, who reportedly did not allow Gal Gadot to wear a yellow pin as a call to release the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza – because this was considered a political statement by the awards organizers (even though it does not express support for any political party or for the war itself).

Gal did post this on Instagram before the awards:

and some are reporting she wore a yellow ring as a substitute for the yellow ribbon:

Ynet quoted a source close to Gadot as saying, “As a presenter, she was bound by specific rules and could not wear the pin. Gal struggled with this decision, which is why she posted her call to free the hostages before the event. Working with her team, she found a creative solution by wearing a yellow ring to symbolize the cause. It was important to her to honor the guidelines while still drawing attention to the hostages.”

Meanwhile, a few celebrities, including the disgraceful Israel-hater Guy Pearce, were allowed to wear the highly political Artists4Ceasefire pin, which basically calls for a ceasefire now, leaving Hamas intact.

I assume one of those “friends” is not Gal Gadot.

Meanwhile, perhaps Guy Peace is perhaps an even bigger hypocrite than the Globes. He actually starred in the Brutalist, playing Harrison Lee Van Buren, a wealthy industrialist who becomes Hungarian-Jewish architect and Holocaust survivor László Tóth’s most important client.

From the plot synopsis (spoiler alert):

Years later Tóth now works for an architecture firm in New York City, where he and Erzsébet live a metropolitan life. Zsófia, no longer mute, is expecting a child with her new Jewish husband. She announces they are moving to Jerusalem in the then-newly established state of Israel. One day, Harrison contacts Tóth to resume construction.

While in Carrara, to buy marble, Harrison rapes Tóth in a show of dominance and denigrates him.

Seems almost fitting Pearce would play a rapist, given he has not had anything to say about Hamas’ atrocities, including rape.
