Unintentionally Hilarious Anti-Israel Propaganda of the Day

Morning Star describes itself as “The only English-language socialist daily newspaper in the world, published six days a week.”

Naturally, Jeremy Corbyn is a fan and has written for them before.

I stumbled across an article by them today titled Knit your scarf for Palestine with these handy instructions, and almost spat out my coffee with laughter.

So naturally, I just had to share it with you.

The article starts with this paragraph:

MORNING STAR readers aren’t quite like readers of any other paper — not only do you own us and ensure we answer to you through our annual AGM tour (this year taking place in London, Glasgow, Manchester and Cardiff from May 29 to June 1 — details in due course) but our readers are militants and activists, united by our struggle for peace and socialism.

Immediately, an image like this appeared in my mind:

Alas, that is not the image accompanying the article. This is:

scarfology

My first thought is “if that dude ever visited his heroes in Gaza, I suspect he would end up with that scarf tied around his neck, hanging from a lamppost.” Just a hunch.

My second thought is what an “own goal” the scarf is. It does not look identifiably “palestinian”; if anything, it looks like a random, ugly scarf unhappy/perplexed to be worn by the weirdo wearing it:

The article has other unintentional gems, like this:

Sandra passes on instructions “to encourage you and/or others to make and distribute more scarves if possible,” noting she is wondering about setting up a “creative-ism, craftism, activism group called GRANNIES AGAINST GENOCIDE” that could make banners, scarves, rosettes and other political paraphernalia.

Otherwise known as GAG.

Which kind of seems summarizes my reaction to this article.
