The Vile Behavior And Terror Support of Owner of Sinamon Cafe (Western Australia)

Sinamon is a cafe chain in Perth, Western Australia, with 4 locations, including Curtin University, where they service university staff and students. It is owned by Abarai Mido, although official records list Dr. Ahmed El Sayed Imam and Yan Woon Desiree Hui as the registered owners. Mido and Hui recently got engaged, so one can assume Mido and Imam are the same person.

Especially since October 7, the person behind their social media accounts, who seems to be Abarai Mido, has shown an unhinged hatred of “Zionists,” who he blames for both WW1 and WW2 (among other things), well before the modern state of Israel was established:

He also paints anyone who makes a disparaging comment as a “Zionist”:

and refer to Israelis or “Zionists” as pigs:

This dehumanization extends to anyone who objects to his activities. For instance, his response to someone who made fun of his objection to police cars at one of the anti-Israel protests were emojis of a foot and cockroach:

More than this, he has publicly shamed a man and woman – ostensibly Curtin University staff – whose only “crime” seems to be objecting to being filmed or photographed:

And just generally displays abusive tendencies when challenged:

His nasty behavior has apparently been on people’s radar for a while – and not necessarily related to his anti-“Zionist” rants:

The owner of a popular café chain has sparked a bitter war of words online after boasting about the low price of his coffees.

Abarai Mido, whose Sinamon franchise has four locations across Perth, took to a local community Facebook group last week to promote his business.

“Who else thinks that 12oz (large) coffee needs to stay at $5? #justsaying,” he wrote, sharing a photo of a Sinamon coffee.

But his post – which has since been deleted – rubbed one local the wrong way.

“I think our café owners need to earn enough to pay their staff and keep doors open. If that’s more than $5 then that is what it is,” they wrote.

Mr Mido hit back, writing that he paid his staff “plenty” and urging the critic to consider the “common day to day consumer”.

In a follow-up comment, he shared a picture of a woman holding up a sign reading “greedy”.

That meme stoked instant outrage.

“This is why businesses should be very careful with how they post on social media. Not very professional,” wrote one.

None of this behavior is illegal, as far as I can tell. But this was:

The owners of Sinamon cafe have been fined more than $89,000 for ‘deliberately’ ignoring a court order to hand over employment records.

Ahmed El Sayed Imam and Yan Woon Desiree Hui pleaded guilty at the Industrial Magistrates Court last month for failing to comply with court orders and were fined a total of $89,800.

The court described the couple’s offending as “conscious and deliberate”.

The couple were charged after industrial inspectors issued Imam and Hui with notices to produce employment records in 2021.

Imam told inspectors he had thrown one notice in the bin, while Hui claimed she was only an employee and not an owner of the business.

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety then began legal proceedings against them, resulting in the court ordering their employment records.

Private sector labour relations director Cara Breuder said the fine sent a strong message to other would-be offenders.

“Compliance with employment laws is not optional,” Ms Breuder said.

“Employers are required to produce employment records to industrial inspectors on request. It’s an important safeguard to check that employees are being paid correctly.

“This was not a case of an employer making an innocent mistake — Mr Imam and Ms Hui ignored court orders. The substantial penalty in this case reflects the seriousness of the offending over many months.”

Why they did not want to produce the employment records is anybody’s guess.

On his Facebook wall, Mido shows the same unhinged hatred of “Zionists”

but is less careful about showing his outright support for terrorism:

So if you object to terror support and the other vile behavior, I recommend you stay the hell away from Sinamon.
