Singer-songwriter and political activist Bob Geldof first rose to prominence in the late 1970s as the lead singer of the Irish rock band the Boomtown Rats, but really hit it big as one of the founders of the charity supergroup Band Aid to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia.
But now all these years later, Geldof is back to being a Rat, albeit a real life one.
He recently appeared on Ireland’s RTE News looking and sounding like Roger Waters.
It is bad enough that Geldof has fallen for the Hamas propaganda hook, line and sinker, and is blaming Israel for the situation in Gaza.
That he accuses us of deliberately killing children, with echoes of the medieval blood libels.
That he is making antisemitic comparisons with the Holocaust.
That he clearly has no clue about the situation, claiming (for instance) that Israelis have heavily censored news and social media feeds (nothing could be futher from the truth – except pretty much everything else he says!)
But what makes his rant next-level depraved is how everything he accuses Israel of is precisely what Hamas and a fair number of regular Gazans are guilty of!
Hamas (and some Gazan ‘civilians’) perpetrated October 7, murdering, raping and kidnapping innocent people, in the worst atrocity to befall the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Where was his condemnation? Where was his comparison to the Holocaust?
Hamas have used their own people as human shields. Where is his condemnation?
Hamas have prevented Gazans from getting to the humanitarian aid. Where is his condemnation?
Hamas heavily censor and control the lives of regular Gazans. Where is his condemnation?
And there have been absolutely no protests in Gaza over the atrocities of October 7, nor any civilians demanding the release of hostages or any that helped the hostages. Where is his condemnation of how depraved their society has become?
So no, Bob, this isn’t about Israel losing its soul. It’s about you losing your mind.
You once rallied the world to help starving Africans. Now you’re parroting the lies of a terror regime that creates starvation, uses children as shields, and glorifies murder.
You’re not speaking truth to power. You’re speaking lies to cameras.
And just like the Boomtown Rats, your moral credibility is long past its prime.
