Scottish football club Celtic has long had the worst antisemitic, terror-supporting fans. In fact, so bad are they, in a previous, now-deleted incarnation of this post, I thought they were Irish!
Which makes this next story so much fun to post.
Last week, Celtic missed out on the Champions League after losing 2-3 to Kazakhstan’s Kairat Almaty during a penalty shootout.
Translation: “You reap what you sow. That’s all I can really say at this moment in time. You reap what you sow!”
That is delighful enough. What makes it priceless is that one of Kairat’s penalties was scored by Ofri Arad. An Israeli.
You can see Ofri celebrating with his teammates after the win:
Naturally, to say Celtic fans are unhappy with the performance is an understatement. Even before the final result, they were chanting “sack the board” – while waving palestinian flags of course!
There is also another ironic element to all of this. Kairat is a team from Kazakhstan, which has for a while unfairly had the reputation of being antisemitic thanks to the character Borat.
The truth is, when it comes to hatred and hypocrisy, it isn’t Kazakhstan that looks like Borat’s backyard – it’s Celtic’s fanbase.
Hat tip: Follow Team Israel.
