Regular readers will recognize the name Lucas Gage.
The artist antisemite formerly known as Angelo John Gage, Lucas went from spreading antisemitism online to regretting it, only to do it all again… to now regretting it again.
The first time he backflipped, I was willing to give him a chance. We spoke, but even after our conversation, something seemed off. We traded direct messages, and it seemed to me that Lucas still held many inaccurate and troubling views about Jews. This is why at the time I never wrote about our conversations nor proclaimed him a reformed antisemite. And I was proven correct.
When Lucas went for us in round 2, I was right there again exposing his rants, because he really was sounding like he might do something crazy. It did not help that some people were pranking him with pizzas, leaking his social security details, and calling the police on him, which only served to make him detest Jews even more. Not to mention yours truly, who he wrongly accused of being behind it all (even though there is evidence that for at least some of this, it were likely fellow antisemites responsible).
Now Lucas Gage has again declared he is no longer an antisemite, and discussed it on a Jewish podcast – in a very interesting conversation that also includes some insights into how Lucas Gage felt about our conversations:
No-one comes harder at Jew-haters than me. Having said that, if one shows intent to change their ways, the Jewish concept of repentance guides me and I am willing to hear them out. Even if the repentance fails the first time.

Here is one of the worst former online antisemites,… pic.twitter.com/CeDwGRBIo8
For the record, I never called authorities on him ever. The most I did was tag his local police on one of my tweets about him.
But I digress. Back in February when Lucas first announced he was leaving the antisemite movement, I was skeptical to say the least. As I wrote at the time:
Here’s the thing. While he rails against their low IQ takes, he is no better. He may not believe in Frankist reptilian satanists who eat babies, but he still does believe in codswallop like Jews providing non-Jews with AI, pornography, drugs, food, and video games so they don’t procreate. Or something.
Lucas Gage isn’t rejecting antisemitism. He’s just upset that his fellow obsessives are making antisemitism look (more) stupid. While making money from it.
Ultimately, Gage isn’t leaving the circus because he realized the clowns are wrong; he’s leaving because he thinks he’s the only one with a decent costume.
But now I feel differently. He seems to have evolved in his thinking since then, as you can hear if you listen to the podcast. He seems to be taking accountability for his mistakes, and shows a desire to build bridges.
Granted, I might be wrong, but I believe in the Jewish concept of repentance. What’s more, Lucas Gage need not be meeting with Jews as he is, which is making him the target of nasty attacks from antisemites. He is paying a real price for this pivot. The least we can do is encourage him and not join the pile-on.
I sincerely hope he continues down that path. Not because it would vindicate my willing to give him another chance, but because every person who escapes the poisonous grip of antisemitism is one less voice spreading hate and one more voice capable of helping others avoid the same rabbit hole.
