Palestinian Propaganda “Own Goal” of the Day

When it comes to own goals, Quds News Network are as prolific as Pelé. And they have not disappointed with this post showing Eid festivities in Jerusalem. By mentioning they are in “Occupied” Jerusalem, QNN are decrying the situation. Yet the photos speak for themselves:

The unhappiness is palpable
Note the palestinian flag. Imagine for a second what would happen if someone waved an Israeli flag in a palestinian Arab controlled area

All these photos show are crowds of happy people with the freedom to express their religion at their third holiest site. You’ll never see crowds of Jews up there – at Judaism’s holiest site – because Israel has taken seriously the sensibilities of the palestinian Arabs and the rest of the Arab world (I would argue too seriously, and to the detriment of Jews, but that is a discussion for another time).

Despite propaganda and violence instigated by Hamas and other Israel-haters, Israel guarantees freedom of religion in our holiest city and throughout the country. In fact, as I posted some years ago, right after the Six Day War, many palestinian Arabs were really happy about Israel liberating the lands previously captured by Jordan. For good reason.

Also let’s not forget, you did not see Jews able to celebrate in Jerusalem like the Muslims pictured above, when Jerusalem was really occupied by Jordan.

The Jewish Quarter of the Old City was destroyed and its residents expelled. Fifty-eight synagogues–some hundreds of years old–were destroyed, their contents looted and desecrated. Some Jewish religious sites were turned into chicken coops or animal stalls. The Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives, where Jews had been burying their dead for over 2500 years, was ransacked; graves were desecrated; thousands of tombstones were smashed and used as building material, paving stones or for latrines in Arab Legion army camps. The Intercontinental Hotel was built on top of the cemetery and graves were demolished to make way for a highway to the hotel. The Western Wall became a slum area.
