Fail Of The Day: Causing A Führer Edition

Old and busted: The pot calling the kettle black

New hotness: The lot calling the kettle Hitler.

Bemused motorists took photographs of the huge JCPenney billboard advertising the kettle as they drove past it on the 405 Interstate highway near Culver City in California, one of America’s busiest stretches of roads.

“That Hitler looks like a kettle,” commented one user of Reddit, one of the several websites where the image was posted over the weekend.

“He even has his right arm extended,” wrote another, while a third added: “I’m a little Nazi, short and stout”.

Things that look Hitler have become a popular web meme – with the genre perhaps defined by the house in Swansea that bears an unsettling resemblance to the Nazi Fuhrer.

Oy to the vey.

A penny for the thoughts of those advertising executives who let this one slip by. If I let my mind wonder a bit, it looks like Nathan Lane got the part of Hitler in the production of “Springtime For Hitler” as presented in “The Producers.”

    1. No, Nathan Lane was Max Bialystock in the Broadway production. “You heard of theater in the round? I invented theater in the square. Nobody got good seats.”

Yes, I know, Norman. I meant the tea kettle kind of looks like Nathan Lane dressed up as Hitler, as if he had played the lead in “Springtime for Hitler.” But Gary Beach, who did play Hitler as a mincing, prancing drag queen was wonderful in that part. Bonus points for being gay in real life, too.
