The Times Of Israel Tries To Emulate The BBC

The Arabs are ramping up their latest campaign of violence against Jewish Israelis. And in one of today’s attacks, a female residents of Tekoa narrowly escaped a lynching.

Residents of Tekoa were ordered to stay home Wednesday morning after a 38-year-old woman from the West Bank settlement was lightly injured and evacuated from the scene of a rock ambush after Palestinian attackers allegedly smashed her windows and attempted to physically remove her from the vehicle before she managed to flee the scene.

Seven cars were damaged in the attack after the group of Palestinians threw stones at vehicles driving on the road leading from Tekoa to Har Homa.

“I woke up like every other morning, got up and left for my job in Jerusalem, and that’s when the attack took place,” Rivi Lev Ohayon told Ynet. “I managed to miraculously escape a lynching attempt, I’m just traumatized.”

“I was the first car in a line of cars 50 meters ahead of the Beit Sahour checkpoint, when I noticed a line of about 10 people forming a human barrier,” she said. “They were all holding rocks, and there were another 10 20-something-year-olds behind them. I saw one of them in front of me with a large rock; I told myself that he was going to kill me.”

“I considered driving through them, but I figured hitting him would break my windshield and injure me. So I turned around, and that’s when about 10 of them jumped on my car and broke my windshield, while one of them opened my door, I saw my death. He started kicking me, but I managed to lock the door and drive away. I called the police crying and frightened. They told me to wait on the side of the road for an ambulance, but I decided to continue driving until I got home, and the police were waiting for me there,” she concluded.

According to the Times of Israel, some Israelis shot and seriously wounded one of the rock throwers (attempted murderers).

And how did they headline the report?

toi headline 1

Followed by this:

Israelis shot and seriously wounded a Palestinian teen during a rock-throwing incident in the West Bank early on Wednesday, witnesses said.

The shooting took place near Beit Sahour, on the road between Jerusalem and the settlement of Tekoa, as Palestinians threw rocks at an Israeli woman’s car and surrounded the vehicle.

“A group of Israeli citizens nearby saw the incident and fired at the attackers,” an IDF spokesman confirmed to The Times of Israel

The 18-year-old Palestinian was in intensive care but in stable condition after the shooting, a Red Crescent medic told AFP.

So according to the TOI, the real story here is the wounding of the palestinian teenager. The attempted murder hardly gets mentioned until deep down in the report.

Who do they think they are…the BBC?

They may have gotten the memo, because they subsequently changed the headline to this:

And then this:

But the report is still as above.

I think nothing less than a rewrite and full apology will suffice.
